Mahoning Valley Historical Society -- Preserving the Mahoning Valley's history since 1875. The premiere source for anyone doing research on the valley's history as an industrial juggernaut.

Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor -- Also called the 'Steel Museum,' this site provides a dramatic overview of the impact of the iron and steel industry on Youngstown and other Mahoning Valley communities. In addition to the permanent exhibit, the Center offers educational programs and an excellent library and archives.

Center for Working Class Studies at Youngstown State University-- The CWCS at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, was the first center of its kind in the United States devoted to the study of working-class life and culture. The CWCS develops courses in working-class studies, organizes a biennial conference, publishes a newsletter, and sponsors an annual speaker series. It houses a library and maintains a bibliography on working-class studies to help promote scholarship in the field.

Tod Steam Engine Project-- The Tod Engine Foundation is a non profit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring the William Tod 34" x 68" x 60" cross compound stationary steam engine. The Tod Engine was manufactured in 1914 in Youngstown, Ohio to power a six stand, 24" merchant mill for the Brier Hill Steel Company. It weighs 300 tons, has overall dimensions of 27' x 47', is equipped with a 20' diameter flywheel and produced a maximum of 4,000 hp at 75 rpm. It is claimed to be the largest engine of its type still in existence in the U.S. and quite possibly the world.

Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area Created by Congress in 1996, the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area is committed to preserving, interpreting, and managing the historic, cultural, and natural resources related to Big Steel and its related industries. Encompassing 3,000 square miles in the seven counties of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Westmoreland, Greene, Fayette, and Washington, Rivers of Steel is building on this area's remarkable transition from heavy industry to high technology and diversified services as well as bolstering the new regional economy by promoting tourism and economic development based on this region's historic industrial saga.

Marktown Historic District This most unique neighborhood was designed by Chicago architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1917 for industrialist Clayton Mark. It has been referred to as "the Brigadoon of Industrial Housing, rising out of the mists of industry every few years."
